I really, really wanted to like this. I'm a notebook nerd, a pen snob, and a musician. I saw this and thought, "Perfect! I can use it to write songs!"So I tried TEN different pens and pencils until I found one that was an acceptable compromise of not-bleeding-through and not-scoring-the-paper (and pencils didn't do the trick!) In the end, I found the Pilot G-2 0.7mm gel is the best (the 0.5 scored the paper too much).
So yeah. The paper is garbage, the cover is thin (I wrote my name on the inside and I can read it from the outside, since it bled through and shows in the RED cover). It doesn't lay flat.
It is, however, really cool otherwise. Plenty of useful space to write out songs you're trying to get down. And honestly, this won't be a finished product you deliver to anyone, so maybe it doesn't really matter how tattered it is. It's definitely better than what I'd tried previously, which was a mishmash of spiral-bound college-ruled notebooks, banded stacks of notecards, or legal pads.
So should you get it? I guess that depends on your priorities. Going to write with a fountain pen? Keep moving.
Need a nice framework to spur some creativity, and willing to put up with some cheap materials? Then give it a shot. To be fair, the price is what I would call reasonable for what you get. If you wanted nice 80+ pound paper, lay flat binding, all that, you'd be paying at least 30 bucks.
